The Shittiest Mindset People Have

(Email readers: see video here)

What I said in the video:

What’s happening, folks? Matt Horowitz. Hope you’re well.

The Number 1 shittiest mindset I come across all the time; I get emails from people, I unfortunately meet a lot of people, and they say, “I don’t know how to do . . . I don’t know how to rent space in a warehouse so I can go ahead and bring my team in and work on this project.

I don’t know how to download a database and reconvert it via this configuration. I don’t know how to shoot a video and get decent audio. I don’t know how to do lighting. I don’t know, I don’t know how, I don’t know how.”

It just sounds like a bunch of fucking whining.

What you do need to learn how to do before you . . . a lot of people come up and they say, “How do you build a website? How do you start a business? How do you write a book?”

They want these tactics. Tactics are not going to do you shit unless you have the proper mindset and attitude, because with the proper mindset and attitude, that’s the underpinning.

That’s the foundation. Those are the roots. That’s what makes everything else that comes forward on your creative path, your entrepreneurial path, your life path; obstacles, objections, challenges, things not going the way that you thought they were going to go.

Your tactics aren’t going to serve you because the tactics only work in one situation. If you can learn a mindset, if you can learn a philosophy, an underpinning, that can work no matter the context of the situation.

Going back to “I don’t know to . . .” you need to wipe that the fuck out of your vocabulary and change that to, “I need to learn how to.”

What do you think one does to your conscious and your subconscious mind? Closes it off. “I need to learn how to . . .” just leaves you open and aware to potentiality, opportunities, people, resources, books, information, and a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember right now.

You want to remain open to the potential for something that you really want, rather than want something and then close yourself off to it.

‘I don’t know how’ or ‘I can’t’; same thing. ‘I can’t,’ what does that mean? That you don’t have the confidence to try?

Anybody who’s done anything great, I don’t care if it’s a Steve Jobs, Martin Luther King, any famous author, actor, artist, musician, writer, videographer, screenplay writer, athlete, entrepreneur, whoever; they don’t know exactly how they’re going to do X, Y, Z, or ABC, but they have the mindset that whatever comes up, they’re going to learn how to do it.

If you can adopt that mindset, ‘I’m going to learn how to. I need to learn how to. I can learn how to’. Then, whatever comes up and you approach it with that tenacity, with that belief, with that mindset, you will get shit done.

If you’re out there to just learn tactics and little things . . . if someone slides this over like this, then you do that. Yeah, that’s really great when that happens 1% of the time, but 99% of the time, other things are going to happen.

If you don’t understand the deeper picture, the bigger philosophy, the more macro- perspective, you’re going to fail, which is just going to suck. You’re just going to live this shitty, mediocre, struggling existence.

If you find my video offensive, ask yourself why. Am I calling up things within you that are no longer serving you and you’re getting mad because they’re coming up to the surface?

You probably need to go to the bookstore this weekend and read some books about changing your mindset. Go to BreakTheFear.com/Books; this is just a resource of links I’ve put up to books that have helped me.

Many of the books, when I started out on my . . . although I am an entrepreneur, this video doesn’t only need to be for entrepreneurs. When I started out reading and learning, I wanted to create a life, I wanted to design my life.

You want to be an entrepreneur with your life. An entrepreneur is just someone who just creates. An entrepreneur just typically creates in the business world.

They create a system or they create value in some way or fashion, but if you want to live your life, if you want to create your life, design your life, do something epic with your existence, you’re going need to learn how to do things.

I’m just going to sum it up on that. I was going on something good, though.

Those books; okay. I know what I was saying.

All of the books I read in the beginning really didn’t really have much to do with tactics. It had to do with more macro-perspective, foundational philosophies, mindset. If you come across . . . if you read a bunch of personal growth, personal development, spirituality, any of those books; 50% of them start on Chapter 1 with your mindset with your beliefs.

If you don’t have the right blueprint, if you don’t have the right game plan, if you don’t have the right framework, then your execution is going to be sloppy and the delivery is going to be poor.

I’m throwing a lot of concepts here all at once. Take it, integrate it, process it; realize that it’s very beneficial. I’m not coming from a place that I’m saying, “I have the most, best attitude and mindset.”

I’m always learning, I’m always tweaking, I’m always evolving, shedding my skin with the stuff that no longer serves me and taking on new things that do. It all has do with philosophy; the underpinning, the foundation, the framework, the macro-perspective. When you get that, then whatever comes up doesn’t matter. I have this . . .

I’m sweating because I turned the air conditioning off.

For example, you’re watching me in this video, there’s this white background, and I look all shiny.

How did I do this?

I saw that it was being done and I wanted to learn how to do it.

I went onto Google and I just did a bunch of searches. Here’s the thing with Google, where people fail, is they do one search, they ask a shitty question, they get a few shitty results, and they stop. What do I do?

I open up 4 or 5 new windows, new tabs of Google and I type in my question in 5e different ways. Then I get about 10 different results on each page. There’s 50 results then to look at.

What I then do is open up all of the links that look good into a new tab. Open a new tab, open a new tab, open a new tab. You right click; you click Open a New Tab.

Now I have 25 windows open with that information, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig, and I dig until I find the answer, until I find the solution that gives me enough confidence and competence to execute.

It might not always be perfect, but it’s how it gets done.

I’m rambling, here. Lots of topics, let’s come back here. Let’s bring this thing home.

I don’t know how to. I can’t. Digital slap through the camera. Get rid of that shittiest mindset. Change it to, “I need to learn how to.” Just sitting here, books.

I need to learn how to write better, branding. There’s no book in there. What is this book about? This is the story of the first human-powered circumnavigation of the earth; Jason Lewis.

I want to see how this guy thinks. Books; read books, work on your mindset, change your philosophy on a way that you can approach anything. The way that you approach things will be really powerful because you get the foundation at work.

It’s not tactics, it’s the essence. It’s never the action; it’s the essence of what is being done. This is the ‘secret’ of all the greats.

Get out there my friends, work on your mindset, throw out that, ‘I don’t know how to. I can’t’, and change that to, ‘I need to learn how to.’

I can ramble on and on, but I think I’ve hit the point. I just spit.

I think I hit the point a couple of times here.

Hopefully, this video is of value to you and I inspire you to get out there and do something big with your life.

All right, my friends. Keep rocking, be well, talk to you soon.

Peace.
